To combat limp hair, try using a mild volumizing shampoo formulated for your hair type. Focus the shampoo at the root of your hair. Use warm water to rinse and make sure you do so thoroughly. Use a volumizing conditioner and massage it onto the ends and body of your hair, not the roots. Avoid adding conditioner to your roots because this will weigh your hair down and cause it to go flat. - Start with freshly shampooed, straight hair to prevent excessive tangling. If you have super curly or wavy tresses, flat iron or blow dry them straight. Allow hair to cool if you’ve recently ironed. Curls and waves have the tendency to be more easily damaged.
- Make sure there is no tangle in hair. Brush several times to remove tangles.
- Use a rattail or a fine comb and part off a section of hair from the rest of the strands.
- Holding the section straight up, backcomb your strands in the direction opposite of your hair's natural growth pattern. Continue to tease until you reach the desire volume.
